Why Chinese Immersion?

Why did we choose a Chinese program?
We didn't. Mandarin Chinese was the dual immersion program offered by our neighborhood school. We were interested in having our son learn a second language so the choice of language was determined by the school and not us.
Sean was excited about learning Chinese because we took a family vacation to China and he was fascinated by all things Chinese.

Prayer wheel at a Tibetan temple

Sean had never been so happy to see a McDonalds. Routinely we stay away from American food when we are in other countries but Sean looked at those golden arches with such longing we caved.

China is cold and humid in February.
